Birds at dusk over Wormwood Park

The Fort Pointer watched starlings doing some synchronized flying over Wormwood Park in Fort Point at dusk the other day.

is an excellent name for a tiny park situated between two huge parking lots, directly over the Mass Pike. I can imagine Hamlet sitting on a bench, muttering, rehearsing the scene in his head.

PLAYER QUEEN: O, confound the rest!
Such love must needs be treason in my breast.
In second husband let me be accurst;
None wed the second but who killed the first.

HAMLET: Wormwood, wormwood.

Truly one of nature's wonders. I was absolutely gobsmacked watching literally thousands of blackbirds doing this at Lackland AFB in Texas back in the 1970s. Up until then I thought the flocks of pigeons on the Boston Common were impressive.

Judging from the picture we're looking at hundreds of starlings. That's actually pretty impressive for an urban landscape.
