Black-crowned night herons keep a close watch at Millennium Park

Mary Ellen spotted a pair of black-crowned night herons keeping an eye out for coppers, or maybe just a big fish, at Millennium Park yesterday.

With so many beautiful photos of local wildlife you should put out a book! Or at least a calendar.

And, like most Black-Crowned Night Herons, they always seem to have left their black crowns at home, in a closet or somewhere. Perhaps they're just for formal occasions.

They look like juvies.
