Why have a non-televised mayoral debate?
Only a few hundred people can fit in to Faneuil Hall, even if they wanted to. Not televising such an evert does a major disservice to voters.
(Anyone know the hall's actual capacity? Google isn't doing it for me)
830
830
The hall can generally hold
The hall can generally hold about 830 people, but that is not including any spaces set aside for news reporters and their cameras.
Holds 700 people at maximum
I think they tried to get tv, but stations already have done 3 mayoral debates and tonight is the first of several Senate debates.
take the 830 figure, my bad
have done events with the Gov there and taken out a few rows
Not televising likely part of the debate agreement
Earlier in the campaign, the challengers and the incumbent agree on a certain number of televised debates. Not broadcasting live Tuesday night's event is likely a result of that agreement.
You might inquire if somebody is nonetheless videotaping the event, as was done earlier in the campaign for a non-televised event that was subsequently put online.
What about a webcast?
Why couldn't they webcast the mayoral debate if not televise it? At least give a chance for those of us who can't get to the event -- both candidates are supposedly so tech-saavy that they should jump at the chance...
WTKK will broadcast the debate
96.9, 6:30 - 8 p.m.
