Orange Line delayed when boy falls on tracks at Stony Brook

New commenting turned off as we begin the Great UHub Migration. Back later today.

Cynthia tweeted around 7:30 a.m.:

Young boy fell on tracks at Stonybrook. Seems okay. Paramedics getting him out now. Orange delayed both directions. ...

Uh oh dad's arrived. Let's argue with mom in front of everyone about how it happened.

. . . it was a common prank to throw the book bags of your friends on the tracks and make them climb down and get them- to the horror of the adults around. That was the 50's though- when babies crawled around eating paint chips, were put to sleep with scotch and milk- and were swaddled in asbestos blankets.

Back in the 70's we would push each other onto the train tracks, your book bag went along for the ride. I think it's illegal to do this today.

Pushing someone off a 7' ledge, onto a track with a third rail with a thousand amps running through it? Yeah, I'd say that's probably illegal.

That explains yesterday's delays. I had to wait until the third train to come before I could board inbound at Sullivan Square. The MBTA website reported "no advisories" when I checked at 8:30 a.m. Certainly there were no announcements.

I got a t-alert at 7:23 advising of delays due to a "medical emergency" at Stoney Brook.
