New commenting turned off as we begin the Great UHub Migration. Back later today.

The Boston Business Journal lists the six companies that bid to tear down the old WInthrop Square garage and replace it with some sort of tower.

Look at the bids yourself.

BUILD THEM ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Considering the severe demand for housing (and the office centric building in the Seaport), proposals that are residential with retail on the first floor should be the only ones really considered. I now for Marty and his men what they are constructing doesnt matter as long as its construction, but for the health of the city we need to really start prioritizing projects that are residential when the city has a voice, like here, and stop subsidizing office space (like GE or Liberty Mutual).

I used to work in the building next door and the entire area is offices (with the exception of some apartments in the few older buildings).

It would have made a lot more sense to put GE here and build out the Fort Point buildings as residential.

Taxpayers should demand a full accounting of the revenue from the sale of Winthrop Sq property.
